Google is reportedly testing out a new feature that adds a global video play button to chrome. This would make it possible to pause or play video from any tab without going to the original tab that playing the video. Once this feature is enabled, you can see a ‘PLAY’ icon next to the URL (besides the bookmark star) if you have a video playing in any tab.
Google is still testing out this feature and it’s called “Global Media Controls”. If you are using Google Canary versions, you can test out this feature before they roll it out to the public.
You can enable Global Media Controls in Google Canary by visiting Flags page. Type chrome://flags/ in the address bar and press enter. In the next window, search for ‘Global Media Controls’ and enable it from there.
